Give | to show your human spirit
Participation in social and community life has attracted a lot of attention in the field of wellbeing research. Individuals who give, and report a greater interest in helping others or in helping the environment are more likely to rate themselves as happy. Research into actions for promoting happiness has shown that performing acts of kindness often associates with an increased sense of wellbeing.
By volunteering your time, joining a community or conservation group may help you to see yourself, and your happiness linked to the wider community. It can be incredibly rewarding and create connections with new people and the world around you.

We ourselves have opportunities for volunteers to work with us to support local environmental action. We’re a self-managed Community Partner Organisation for Canal & River Trust, where we take pride in our own adopted stretch of canal. You could get involved in a range of practical tasks on our adopted canal stretch, or engage with us to support nature conservation work at a local green space/country park, or even work with us to improve your own patch.
If you yourself, or as a group of local employees, enjoy the great outdoors and have some spare time to give, we’d like to here from you. Please do get in touch via our Contact Us page.
