Showtime | Showing our ‘human-nature‘
We did a bit of showing off at our first ever showcase event – ‘Social Enterprise Matters’ at Staffs Uni yesterday (22nd June). There were around 40 stands and 200 guests, with lots going on including loads of inspiring speakers, speed networking (speed dating but for business) and even a Dragon’s Den (which we didn’t dare go near).
Our stand was in prime position next to the stage and was really well received by visitors and fellow social enterprises alike. Master craftsman Jon French, as one of our collaborating artists was there centre of our stage throwing pots and letting visitors take their turn at the wheel – and those waiting in the queue had a go at decorating un-fired pots with leaf decoration. As well as demonstrating our abilities on art activities, we also ‘strutted our stuff’ with a bit of Nordic walking to showcase an example of our green exercise activities.
As well as demonstrating and showcasing some of our activities and equipment, we also had on display our newly printed banners as a backdrop, and a rolling electronic screen explaining the essence of human-nature in pictures.
Many people said we gave the impression of a very well established and a really professional business – which we will be, but of course we are still quite new, just making new introductions and trying to make our mark!
human-nature Launch Event | Keele, Friday 5th & Sat 6th August 2016
For those who didn’t get a chance to have a go at throwing a pot, we’ll be doing some of the same activities and loads more at our very own launch event at Keele University Sustainability Hub (Home Farm) on Friday 5th August and Saturday 6th August:
Tickets and full details of what’s happening at our launch event are available via Eventbrite:
It’s your opportunity to come along and meet all thescapartists doing their thing – with lots of interactive ‘arty’ things to try your hand at. We’ll also have nature and garden themed artwork galleries on display, with an outdoor gallery in the courtyard garden (providing our infamous British summer weather holds out). We’ll also be providing demos and tasters of our green exercise activities like Nordic walking, greenway cycling, mountain biking through to gentler activities like community gardening and nature conservation.
Supported by our artist Jacqui Symons, to mark the event, we also aim to create a very special collaborative garden mosaic piece, which we would like all our artists, visitors, Hub staff, Nova Centre businesses and Keele campus community to come along and get involved as ‘friends with human-nature‘. We’ll post more details about our special launch event shortly, so please keep checking back for more details and to find out how to get hold of free tickets!
