Peter Hooper | exercise (body) advocate
I’m the Founder and Managing Director of Cox Bank Publishing, a local social enterprise dedicated to publishing sports writing – short pieces written by sports people and others about what they love about being active. I’ve always enjoyed reading about others’ sporting exploits and I’m keen to bring a wider range of sports and activity writing to a larger audience. There are so many inspirational stories about how a ‘be active’ lifestyle has allowed people to turn their lives around.
As a lover of the outdoors, and as a keen trail runner, open water swimmer and mountain biker myself, it makes it easy for me to appreciate the ‘green exercise’ benefits that Human-Nature Escapes are bringing to community wellbeing. I’m therefore only too pleased to support the project as the ‘Exercise (Body)’ Advocate, as it’s such a natural fit with Cox Bank Publishing’s work and my own sporting interests. And of course writing is also a form of creative expression, which meshes nicely with the Human-Nature Escapes ethos of encouraging people to ‘Create’.
I’m married with a son and daughter, and am the proud owner of two rescue collies, Flynn and Freddie, who aid and abet me on training runs!
Through my role and my own enterprise, I’m lucky enough to meet some inspiring people, of all ages and at all levels of sporting ability, and able to watch, cover and participate in many events locally and nationally, capturing some of the best sporting moments, both in words and pictures. Encouraging people to be more active is an ever pressing issue, which is now high on the government’s health agenda, and hopefully projects like Human-Nature and my own, can only do good things to help inspire people to get moving.
