Summary

A Victorian city park once regarded as the ‘green lungs’ of the city of Stoke, with grade II* listed in recognition of its historical importance.  Together with the adjacent Caldon Grounds it’s benefitting from a munti- million pound Heritage Lottery makeover.  It’s just 10 minute walk from the city centre (Hanley) and the same from Stoke railway station and easy walking distance for much of the local population.

Conclusion

Should be a wonderful example of a classic Victorian park when the refurbishment is complete.   It can also be a good park to cycle to, along the traffic free routes provided by the canal system.  Our hope is that the significant Lottery investment doesn’t result in the park becoming more commercialised – bringing with it parking fees and charges.
